Originally, he worked along the Sword Coast with a partner by the name of Fenton Tellens. Eventually, the two came to find a rather comfortable flow of income from the city of Waterdeep. However, after a rather peculiar event regarding a very powerful scorned young woman, the duo were forced to flee. They soon made their way to Sundren, a relatively new land supposedly ripe with opportunity. Little did the bard know just what he was getting into. Osclow's typical answer as to why he is present in these lands is a simple one; money. This is most likely true, but some have said the whole answer is far more complex and has something to do with a daughter of his waiting back home in the town of Navil.

Soon, Osclow's feelings for Lilia developed into more than just friendship. However, such was in the case for Parm as well, who was far more open and direct with his feelings. Osclow kept his love silent, even after it was soon revealed that Parm was not much of a husband, or even much of a father to Tia, the daughter he and Lilia bore a year after their marriage.

Tia often told Osclow how she dreamed of one day owning a huge palace filled to the brim with all the books she could get her hands on. It was this dream that would shape Osclow's fate in the near future.

In time, Parm grew suspicious of Osclow and his wife. Fueled by the mead he had come to be so greatly associated with over the years, he confronted the two as they were talking upon Bluewatch Cliff, a spot they typically frequented. Baseless, drunken accusations turned to rough handling of Lilia. After attempting to literally slap some sense into her intoxicated husband, Parm fell from the cliff taking his wife with him. Osclow tried desperately to save Lilia, but could do nothing more than stare into her sad, fearful eyes as her sleeve tore away.

Osclow blames himself for the death of Lilia and Parm. In his eyes, it was his own inaction that led to their demise. Great was his own sorrow but even greater was the sorrow for the fact that he had taken away the parents of the little girl he had come to care so much for.
