History/Relationships:
Urogalan is a gentle deity for a god of death, respected and revered by his chosen race but never feared. He is seen as a protector of the dead. Because halfling dead are usually buried in the earth, he is also the guardian of the earth itself (as opposed to the green plants that grow in the earth, which are the dominion of other halfling deities).

The halfling pantheon of gods consists of the leader Yondalla, as well as Arvoreen, Brandobaris, Cyrrollalee, Sheela Peryroyl, and Urogalan himself. Urogalan is on good terms with the rest of his pantheon, but somewhat removed from their embrace of life. Urogalan is allied with Callarduran Smoothhands, Dumathoin, Flandal Steelskin, Grumbar, Segojan Earthcaller, and Sehanine Moonbow. He is also allied with human deities associated with earth and the protection of the dead such as Kelemvor.

Urogalan is opposed to Abbathor and Urdlen. He abhors Velsharoon and those gods associated with necromancy and the undead.
Dogma:
Urogalan's faithful believe that just as the earth is the giver of all life, so it ultimately receives all life into its embrace. They revere the soil and embrace death when their natural lives come to an end.
Avatar/Manifestations:
Urogalan rarely speaks or shows emotion. His voice, rarely heard, is tinged with loss. In appearance, Urogalan is a slim, dusky-skinned halfling dressed in brown or pure white, representing his two primary aspects of earth and death.
Agents/Petitioners:
.
The Church of Abbathor:
Urogalan's temples are found in shallow basins open to the sky, in natural caves or in catacombs dug by halflings. They emphasize the natural terrain and their floors are always covered in six inches of dirt.

Though he is propitiated by many halflings, Urogalan's priesthood is small. They administer last rites, preside over burials, and care for halfling graves. They also maintain much of halfing genealogies and histories, and consecrate the foundations of new buildings and burrows.

Urogalan's novices are called Earthlings, while his full priests are called Vassals of the Black Hound.
Day-to-Day Activities:
Offerings to Urogalan include uncut gems and clay images of He Who Must Be. They are placed on flat rocks at the centers of natural earthen basins while soft dirges and elegies are sang and read while percussion is provided by the pounding of bare feet making slow circles around the central stone.

Halfling bodies are interned in stone or wooden caskets with a stone tablet graven with the name of the deceased and a symbol of the Black Hound on their chests and on their palms. Mementos of their lives are often buried with them.
Holy Days/Important Ceremonies:
Urogalan's holy times are the nights of the full moons, known as Earthrisings. Halflings believe the full moon to be one of Urogalan's manifestations.
Major Centers of Worship:
Affiliated Orders:
.
Priestly Vestments:
Clergy wear simple, ankle-length robes tied with belts of rope. They are always bare-footed. Priests typically shave their heads, while priestesses bind their hair in twin braids.
Class: rogue / wizard / arcane trickster

Appearance
A tall, thin man with redish coloured hair. He is often dressed in fine clothes of flashy design and maintains his appearance to a high standard (he is often seen brushing or waxing his fine gentlemanly mustache). Under his coat is a bandolier with several wooden stakes and he has a few short blades of various makes and design tucked into his belt.

Personality
Young and brash, he has the world by the tail (before it grabs him by his). He is full of bravado and delights in watching the chaos he has injected tear apart his adversary’s world. He is constantly fiddling with random items in the many pockets of his coat and seems surprised at the variety of objects he produces.

“Now this is interesting... where would I have found two blue marbles and a raven feather? Curious is it not?”

He constantly fidgets and his hands seem to always be busy, whether touching all the items in a merchant’s stall, or practicing small “magic” feats like making coins disappear behind the ears of children.

History & Origins
Sasha’s life was fairly ordinary living in Sigil, which pained him greatly. How was he supposed to distinguish himself if he lived this mundane existence? He needed some action or event that would bring his name into notoriety. Sure he could join in the games of his brothers and sisters, killing each other to feed the egos of demons and devils, but bowing and scraping for their leftovers didn’t appeal to him. Then it came to him… PRIDE! He knew it well; he was her greatest lover after all! And what better game for the master to play then to show others how fickle his mistress could be!

Now being smart, Sasha knew enough to know his place in the world. He knew that he needed to perfect the game before bringing it back to the pit. But who on the prime material plane woos pride as much as he does? Who craves her embrace and would fall prey to his game? After seducing a sorcerer into scrying the surface world for him, he found a worthy adversary…. Those who have cheated death themselves! His new adversary have become the wanton disciples of pride, they feel that the natural order of things don’t apply to them as they raise their undead minions and seek to extend their natural lives beyond the end of time.

Important Contacts
Sasha does not know many people on this plane, though I am sure he has crossed (or owes a favour or two) a few people below.

Motivation & Goals
Sasha delights in bringing chaos to order, though he limits this to individuals, not governments (his sights aren't set that high). He has fallen into a group of other hunters and though they possess different (albeit more serious) motivation than his, Sasha finds their company justified, because one so distinguished as himself would naturally have a company of fellows to enjoy his great game with.

Sasha isn’t evil, though he is self serving and only sees rules as delightful little obstacles that make his game more interesting. Although he has fully embraced pride, he is a gracious loser as the mistress is fickle, but he won’t let the trist go unanswered. He has a long memory and keeps a special place in it for those who have bested him.

“The game is never over; we have just convened this round. But soon sir, we shall meet again and you will find yourself measuring short”
Skills of note
Sasha delights in dangerous little devices. Rumour has it that down in Sigil he rigged a fellow Tiefling's scabard with one, which summarily sliced off four fingers when he tried to draw steel against Sasha.

Miscellaneous Information:
Mittens is dirty and tattooed with crude designs. Her hair is white, having many carved bones tied into it. She is not know to read or write, but has a keen nose and seems to identify people through their scent.
As a symbol of her tribe, Mittens often imprints her armour with a white hand print, usually using the ash of a fire. She is a feirce warrior and does not like to back down from a fight, though she is learning to listen more carefully to her adviser and evaluate situations with a tactitian's eye.
Lately, through her adventures with Brak and Qybox's counsel, she has begun to become distrustful of humans, eyeing them warily. She views the cities as smelly and feels suffocated in them. However, she will travel on occasion to the city to trade. Soldiers who have confronted her about carying weapons within city limits have been met with sharp snaps and snarls from this feral little Hin.

Mittens has also spent some time in "domesticating" shadow mastiffs for hunting. a gift, some say, that she brought back from "the other side" after having being killed in battle. Rumour has it that her sister sacrificed herself in order to have Mittens resurrected.

History:
Mittens was not born into a tribe as most are and she is not known to have a traditional family of a mother, father or siblings.
Hunters from different tribes deep in the jungles whispered rumours of a great beast, a jungle cat, much larger and ferocious than any other they had seen. Over time, most hunters in the area considered the great beast a good omen, as its appearance usually meant a successful and bountiful hunt. The tribal shaman had a far different view, however, and warned their tribes of this creature, claiming to have seen visions of pain and suffering and warned of Ubtao's wrath. As the moon rose and fell, waxed and waned, more and more hunters from the tribes would secretly pray to the great beast before hunts, and then after a time, began to ask favour of it for other aspects of their lives.
Ubtao grew angry as more and more of his children began to worship the great jungle cat, but he watched in silence, biding his time.
Through an odd twist in fate, this time came, as three different hunting parties from different tribes happened upon a small child. The hunters were suspicious of the other tribes, having all arrived at the same place at the same time, but saw this event as an omen from the great jungle cat and saw the child as a powerful gift. That day the tribes forged an uneasy truce around the child, but it was not to be like that for long, as the tribes grew jealous of each other. Each tribe saw the success of the others as a slight against themselves and tension grew.
Significant Relationships:
Hubei Su Chi: Blood Sister.
Quartzcore, Qybox: Tribal Adviser.
Brak: Bear Warrior and Tribal Protector.
Samael Charun: Companion.

The Whitepaw Tribe is currently a small group who are all connected by the tribal marking of a white hand print crudely drawn on their armor. For one reason or another all of the members have chosen to join the tribe and have been accepted by the chieftain, Mittens. Under her leadership the tribe has rallied around the great trees of Sundren, where the tribe stage their hunts and plan their wars. Thanks to Mittens' blood-sister Hubei Su Chi, a shadowdancer, the tribe has forged a close alliance with the shadows and are served by great shadow mastiffs, which accompany the tribe on some hunts and guard their Tribeland while they are away.
Bases of Operation
Great Trees
The Whitepaw tribe have been known to rally around great trees, where they plan for war. There are three such trees in Sundren:

#The Great Tree along the river in the Viridale forest. This was the first of the Great War Trees and where the war against the Mossclaw Alliance was planned and executed. The Whitepaw Tribe are rarely seen here anymore, having come to a shakey understanding with the alliance, though the tree still serves as a forward observation post against the Talonians and the plague that seems to be seeping out from the Untrodden Grounds.
#The Great Tree in Sestra. The second of the Great War Trees and one of the most significant. The tree itself is hidden away in a secluded mountain valley, which leads to the lands of a clan of ferocious Lizardmen. It was from this tree that the Whitepaw Tribe began to take shape as Mittens, Hubei and Qybox first came together to wage a bloody and prolonged war against the Lizards. It was here that Mittens carved the bones of her kills to be hung from the branches of the great tree in offering. It was also here that Hubei took Mittens after she was killed during one of the fledgling tribe's first raids against the Veritas. Pom Wador was first introduced to the tribe during this event as he watched Hubei lay Mittens out under her Great War Tree before sacrificing herself to "the Great Hunter" in exchange for Mittens' safe return from the beyond.
#The third, and final of the Great Trees, is situated between the Veritas and Sundren forces in the Schild mountains. This tree has witnessed many battles waged at its base and has suffered many injuries, being riddled with stray arrows and scorch mark from the magical artillery shots. To end the tree's suffering the Whitepaw Tribe has declared war on the Veritas and often launch raids on their steppes in an attempt to force the Veritas to retreat and leave the Great Tree in peace. While warring, the chieftain Mittens will invoke the tree's spirit and change her form into a terrible and wrothful avenging spirit.

i agree, it should be in line with the other factions and i will see if i can properly format it over the next few days, unless you get to it first.
Here are some thoughts:
- Since Mittens is a Malarite she kind of leads the tribe following the tenants of Malarism, ie the great hunt, opposition to disease (ie the talorians and their plague) and poison. A lot of what she does occurs under the moon.
- I added a couple pics, just for some colour and to kind of give an idea of what i was thinking for a tribal symbol. Thoughts? Suggestions? I haven't manipulated the pics yet, which i should.
- I added some more information about the war trees.
- Pixie -

I like the picture, but maybe invert it or something so it's a white handprint against a steel or leather colored background? I haven't done much image manipulation in a while, but could do it if you'd rather not. I'll do a bit with getting the formatting in line tonight.
Lothoir 08:19, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Agreed re the picture, i just haven't had the time yet. I was thinking of getting a white painted hand on some sort of old wood or shield, etc etc. I will work on it a bit.
PS. how do you edit this page to get the user name and timestamp, or do you just add that in yourself?
Thanks to Mittens' blood-sister Hubei Su Chi, a shadowdancer, the tribe has forged a close alliance with the shadows and are served by great shadow mastiffs, which accompany the tribe on some hunts and guard their Tribeland while they are away.
The Whitepaw tribe have been known to rally around great trees, where they plan for war. There are three such trees in Sundren:
#The Great Tree along the river in the Veridale forest.
Pom Wader was first introduced to the tribe during this event as he watched Hubei lay Mittens out under her Great War Tree before sacrificing herself to Malar in exchange for Mittens' safe return from the beyond.
#The third, and final of the Great Trees, is situated between the Veritas and Sundren forces in the Schild mountains. This tree has witnessed many battles waged at its base and has suffered many injuries, being riddled with stray arrows and scorch mark from the magical artillery shots. To end the tree's suffering the Whitepaw Tribe has declared war on the Veritas and often launches raids on their steppes in an attempt to force the Veritas to retreat and leave the Great Tree in peace.
The Whitepaw Tribe is a currently small group who are all connected by the tribal marking of a white paw drawn on the members' armor. For one reason or another all of the members have chosen to join the tribe and have been accepted by the chieftain, Mittens. Under Mittens' leadership the tribe has taken to the defence of the great trees around Sundren, namely the one situated between Sundren and Veritas forces in the Schild mountains. Thanks to Mittens' blood-sister Hubei Su Chi, a shadowdancer, the tribe has forged a close alliance with the shadows and are served by great shadow mastiffs that accompany the tribe on some hunts, and guard their Tribeland while the tribe is away.
War
The Whitepaw tribe have been known to rally around great trees, where they plan for war. There are three such trees in Sundren:
#The Great Tree along the river in the Veridale forest.
While warring, the chieftain Mittens will invoke the tree's spirit and change her form into a terrible and wrothful avenging spirit.

The Whitepaw Tribe
Members
*Chieftain: Mittens Whitepaw
*Counseler: Qybox Quartzcore
*Bear Protector: Brak
*War Spirit: Richard Darkholme
*Unspecified: Pom
War
The Whitepaw tribe have been known to rally around great trees, where they plan for war. There are three such trees in Sundren:
#The Great Tree along the river in the Veridale forest. This was the first of the Great War Trees and where the war against the Mossclaw Alliance was planned and executed. The Whitepaw Tribe are rarely seen here anymore, having come to a shakey understanding with the Mossclaw alliance, though the tree still serves as a forward observation post against the Talonians and the plague that seems to be seeping out of the Untrodden Grounds.
##The Great Tree in Sestra. Pom Wader was first introduced to the tribe during this event as he watched Hubei lay Mittens out under her Great War Tree before sacrificing herself to Malar in exchange for Mittens' safe return from the beyond.
###The third, and final of the Great Trees, is situated between the Veritas and Sundren forces in the Schild mountains. While warring, the chieftain Mittens will invoke the tree's spirit and change her form into a terrible and wrothful avenging spirit.

Relationships
*Messenger - A particularly foul and obnoxious man who tried banning the Whitepaws from the Schild mountains. The Chieftain has ceased communicating with this messenger and is awaiting the entreaties of his chieftain to resume diplomatic ties.

Here are some thoughts:
- Being a druid, mittens also has strong a connection to trees and adorns them with shamastic totems (carved bones, skins, crude idols etc) and uses the trees as a rally point for war.

BattlePixie:

Rules
Please contact a DM if you have any questions about any of the following rules.

Death Penalty
XP will not be refunded for deaths that occur during lag, server crashing, etc.

Farming
Farming is defined as repeatedly traveling across a particular zone in order to kill creatures for benefits of XP, items, and/or gold.

Sundren uses a unique experience curve system that restricts farming activities, however if you are caught farming there will be repercussions.

Character Recreation
Players have the ability to recreate their characters from scratch, but XP, gold, and items may not be transferred.

PvP/CvC
PvP combat is permitted everywhere in Sundren, however attacking near cities or towns may result in arrest or even execution. Abusing PvP by repeatedly killing a character within a short period is not tolerated, we log player deaths and we will know if anyone is breaking this rule. Deaths resulting from player versus player combat always incur an experience penalty.

Pickpocketing
Pick pocketing is not to be abused, repeatedly stealing from someone is considered harassment and abusive behavior.

Metagaming
Meta-gaming is the use of information obtained out of character in character. This is unfair to other role players and if problems arise a DM will handle the situation.

Ninja Looting
Ninja looting is defined as following someone else, letting them fight in combat while you pick up all loot right under their nose, keeping it for yourself. This will cost heavy XP deductions if anyone is caught doing so.

Out of Character
OOC or out of character talk can be disruptive to gameplay, Sundren is a roleplay server and people are expected to stay in character at all times, the occasional comment is fine but we ask that it is kept to a minimum (or preferably, use tells/party chat).

All OOC chat needs to be defined somehow, using brackets or otherwise.

E.g., // AFK or (( Be right back! ))

Transferring Items/Muling
Transferring items from one character you own to another is not permissible under any circumstances, as this is considered exploitation. Also, hoarding items on a particular character/account is not permitted.

Administrator Supremacy
Server administrators and dungeon masters make decisions for the good of the server. Their word on something is final unless appealed to another official who will then review the situation and decide to reinforce or abolish the decision previously made. If you believe you have been treated unfairly by a member of our staff, please make a post on the forums regarding your situation. Insulting DMs or staff members whether publically or ingame is not a good way to get help, they are regular people just like everyone else who want to have fun.

Harassment Policy
Harassment of another player will never be tolerated, for any reason. If someone is harassing you please contact a member of our staff and provide screenshots of the incident.

Cheating & Exploiting
Cheating and exploiting bugs in the server or general game mechanics will not be tolerated, and is bannable if you are caught deliberately doing so.

Griefing
Griefing is the physical component of harassment which includes repeatedly killing or pick pocketing a player. This will not be tolerated.

Naming Policy
The following is a general set of instructions for naming characters. It is by no means comprehensive and your best judgement and common sense should be used. If you are unsure whether the name you are contemplating would be allowed, then it probably either needs (at a minimum) DM approval or won’t be allowed.
1- Nicknames are allowed in the character description, but must be pre-approved or granted by a DM as part of RP before being put into the first or last name slot;
2- Titles (Lord, King, Prince, Baron, etc) are not allowed in the name field unless granted by a DM;
3- Names should be properly cased, where appropriate:
a. Not acceptable: JoNhNnY or XJohnnyX
b. Acceptable: Mac Dougle or MacDougle
4- Derogatory / racial terms are not permitted;
5- No odd characters ( " or ', ( or ), { or }, [ or ].):
a. No periods where they don’t abbreviate:
i. Not Acceptable: .Johnny or Johnny.
ii. Acceptable: Bob Perkins Jr.
b. Elves are allowed ‘ in their name, within reason:
i. Not acceptable: Ti’re’ni’rv’ghr’it
ii. Acceptable: Tir’ene
6- No numbers:
a. Not acceptable: Bob Perkins 2 or Bob 2-Feathers
b. Acceptable: Bob Perkins II or Bob Two-Feathers
If a PC has a question about whether or not they meet the standard when naming a PC, they should contact a DM or post on the forum in the help section. Anyone caught using a title will have to remake and may not be refunded their items and XP if the DM believes the player knew the rule.
Existing PCs with titles, as of 13 May 08, are grandfathered in.
Sundren DMs are the final word on the naming policy

History:
Shela got her start in the Waterdeep Navy. The relationship was fruitful for a time, but like any fruit left for to long, the relationship soured. She quickly turned her fortunes around and signed on with various merchant vessels, until a ship named the "Dancing Lady" brought her to Sundren.

Feeling it was time to find her land legs, Shela went ashore and quickly found a niche smuggling goods up and down the rivers in the area. Though she never resorted to banditry (finding the act repugnant), she has no qualms about cheating others from what she feels they don't deserve. She would much rather use her above average intelligence to get what she wants peacefully, then brawn to force an action.

Although smuggling has been her main focus while living ashore, she has been known to hire herself out as a (cheap) bodyguard.
Significant Relationships:
Donovon Jadel
Miscellaneous Information:

Miscellaneous Information:
Shela is a crude talking woman with a brash manner, though she is polite and prefers to be introduced to those she is dealing with before talking business. She only draws her blades when they are required (even in the wilds) and views others that carry naked steel as a threat.

Shela delights in questioning a knight's motives and actions, with the hopes of tricking them into commiting questionable acts. Shela revels in seeing someone upstanding "fall" through her medelings.
