While the Red Wizards of Thay are not opposed to blasting their opponents with deadly spells or shredding the minds of their enemies with dark magic, there are times when they need protectors who have mastered the art of swordplay. These protectors are the Thayan knights, familiar with magic and loyal to none but the tattooed mages. The Thayan knights act as bodyguards and enforcers for the Red Wizards. They lead common Thayan troops into battle and help guard the wizard enclaves. Although they are referred to as knights, they have no code of conduct, and the only rule that binds them is that their lives are worth nothing compared to the safety of the Red Wizards. Almost all Thayan knights are fighters, although monks and rangers have been known to pursue this career. Barbarians are typically too reckless to concentrate on defense, and the Red Wizards consider other individuals too weak to perform the duties of a Thayan knight.&lt;br /&gt;

These characters become dragon disciples, who use their magical power as a catalyst to ignite their dragon blood, realizing its fullest potential. Description: On the front lines of battle, injury is inevitable. Where the carnage is at its worst, the combat medic can be found, keeping her allies alive and tending to the fallen. For a combat medic, the goal is not to kill the enemy  but to make sure the enemy does not kill her troops. Her ability to keep forces fighting makes her invaluable to an army. She is entrusted with the care of the best forces available, sometimes even assigned to elite strike teams.&lt;br /&gt;

As she advances in level, a combat medic gains abilities that enhance her healing skills. She also continues to gain spellcasting power. &lt;br /&gt;

&#039;&#039;&#039;Spellcasting:&#039;&#039;&#039; As you attain more levels, you continue your training in your chosen spellcasting field. At each level except first, you get new spells per day and spells known as if you had also gained a level in any one divine spellcasting class, provided you belonged to that class previously. You do not, however, gain any other class feature a character of that class would have gained. This essentially means that you add the level of combat medic to the level of whatever eligible spellcasting class you have, and then determine spells per day and caster levels accordingly. If you had more than one eligible spellcasting class before becoming a combat medic, you must decide to which class you add each level of combat medic for the purposes of determining spells per day, spells known, and caster level. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&#039;&#039;&#039;Healing Kicker (Su):&#039;&#039;&#039; You hate to see your careful work ruined by an attack made right afterward. Thus, you can  add a short-term protective effect to your healing spells, allowing a healed target to more easily survive the rigors of combat. Whenever you cast a conjuration (healing) spell on an ally, you imbue the spell with a secondary effect as described below. In each case, the secondary effect lasts for 1 round unless otherwise noted.  You can’t apply this secondary benefit to yourself. This will effect all healing spells  except Mass Heal.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
At 1st level, you can imbue a healing spell with a sanctuary effect (as the spell). The Will save DC to overcome this effect is equal to 11 + class level (of combat medic) + Wisdom modifier. &lt;br /&gt;
At 3rd level, you can grant the target of your healing spell a competence bonus on Reflex saves equal to your class level. &lt;br /&gt;
At 5th level, you can imbue a healing spell with a maximized aid effect (as the spell, but the quantity of temporary hit points granted is equal to 8 + your class level). This effect lasts for 1 minute or until the temporary hit points are depleted, whichever comes first. &lt;br /&gt;

&#039;&#039;&#039;Defensive Casting (Ex):&#039;&#039;&#039; Starting at 2nd level, you are capable of spellcasting even under the most dangerous circumstances. You gain a competence bonus equal to your class level on Concentration checks made to cast spells defensively. &lt;br /&gt;

The path of the master of many forms is ideal for a spell caster of any race who has experience shape changing and yearns for more of it. Master Pentec, as he is known is an older man who has found a great ammount of pleasure in creating flames.  It is unknown how his obsession started, tho the way he can sometimes stare at the flames of the campfire, or the flames still licking his last opponents corpse would suggest it is a source of secret obsession. The Skullcleavers are a band of Dwarves rallied together originally by a Dwarf known as Gael Ironhide. Ironhide formed the Brigade as a homage to his days at Citadel Felbarr and the many patrols of the orc claimed lands surrounding the citadel. Upon the loss of too many of his patrols Emerus Warcrown ordered for the patrols of the outer lands to stop and Gael was reassigned in the halls of the citadel where he grew tired of his duties and longed for the thrill of battle. He formed the group consisting of possibly eight dwarves (none of which was openly recorded); the group formed on several occasions and lead many successful patrols of the Viridale Forest and Sharan Hills. Some time after the groups formation the bands leader dissapeared (believed dead) and thus the keystone of the Skullcleavers was removed allowing the dwarves to once again take on thier seperate paths. Eventually the cup of the Skullcleavers was taken up by a Dwarf known as Glagnur Frostfury he managed to gather a few of the dwarves for a short time before he too dropped the cup.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The most recent attempt to rally dwarves was from a female dwarf by the name of Boflasia Glimmerstone where in she offered her services as a healer to any dwarf in need.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Finally after many failed attempts it seems that it was a human that reignited the flames of the Skullcleavers. Master Pentec, friend of Brorgor Ironfist offered to his friend to fund and aid in the assembly of the dwarves to the only known dwarven banner in Sundren, The Skullcleavers. He has paid to have the armors and arms for ten dwarves commissioned and made to match. A dark armor with spiked pauldrens and an Insignia on the center of each Platemail the Skullcleavers armor is as much to give the dwarves that wear it pride as it is to strike fear into would be opposers.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The Skullcleavers Insignia is a flaming skull with a double bladed war axe etched on top of the face of the skull. Besides the magics that strengthen any armor or weapon the insignia is placed on it is believed Master Pentec also infused the insignia to allow the Skullcleavers know where their comrades are.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Purpose:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
To provide a good banner, arms, and armor for the dwarves of Sundren, and to serve whatever goodly cause they decide. They are not considered mercenaries, tho their involvement can be requested to assist the city or whatever group. They make regular patrols of the Viridale Forest and have eventual plans to set up a post somewhere around Sundren.&lt;br /&gt;

A crude Dwarf by many standards Durin has little to no tolerance for mixed races and has a great hatred for orcs and refuses to fight alongside even a halfbreed.  He has a wellkept mohawk and hardly ever is seen without his armor.&lt;br /&gt;

Gael Ironhide is a Dwarf who has a natural lust for adventure and particularly for battle.  He use to lead out a squad of four Dwarves from the great Citadel Felbarr, but in recent years the dwarven losses have forced King Emmerus Warcrown to stop these patrols of the outlands by his soldiers.  Gael grew tired of his cushy lifestyle in the caves of the citadel and decided to embark out for a land ripe with a desire to for adventurers.  He came to Sundren in hopes of forming a new squad and rendering as many goblin and evil kin as he could find, and if he made some money along the way that&#039;s all the better!&lt;br /&gt;

Gael is proficient in heavy armors and always likes boast &amp;quot;The heavier the better!&amp;quot;  He keeps his trusted war axe of many years held in fastening on the backside of his favored shield, the tower shield.  He also enjoys stout ale, and can often prefer to drink alone, or with another dwarf.&lt;br /&gt;
