FAQ
Does Sundren require the Mask of the Betrayer expansion?
Yes, in order to play on Sundren you will need the NWN2 expansion, Mask of the Betrayer. The expansion adds a lot of new things to the game and improves many existing features, it was a very easy decision to add it to Sundren for all the benefits it provides.

Can I make/join a guild?
Sundren has several in-house guilds that are joinable by regular PCs and will offer different benefits. Each guild has its own private forum that will act as a message board for the members. Players are free to make their own groups, however there will be no sanctioned player-run guilds in Sundren.

Can I use overrides on Sundren?
No, anyone caught using overrides may be booted, or if intentionally using them to cheat -- banned. Overrides not only cause server instability, they also can corrupt your character file, affecting others as well as yourself. We will fully enforce this rule. Do not risk getting booted/banned, while playing on Sundren, either rename or clear your override folder located in:

"My Documents/Neverwinter Nights 2/override"

We now allow a single homebrewed override file, which can be downloaded here:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=U7PPCU4D
This adds a few heads/hair models to the game for your enjoyment.
This is the ONLY exception to the rule.

I messed up on something, can you relevel my character?
We will not relevel player characters unless the character file is somehow corrupt from a bug, or if you picked a moderated class that you didn't get approval for.

In all other cases this kind of request will be denied. If we agreed to do this kind of thing we would get dozens of requests in a day and we simply don't have the time nor desire to relevel people because they picked an incorrect feat or class.

There are many character creator tools available for free online to help you plan out your characters before you make them.

How long has Sundren been in development?
Sundren has been in development since October, 2006.

Can you edit my character/armor?
For various reasons we do not accept player items, BIC files, etc. Nor will DMs or admins edit your character to change a colour or to help you pick another feat, or anything of that nature. If you have issues with your character you can delete it using the Sundren menu ingame. Alternatively if its a serious issue such as a game bug a DM can help you reroll a new character and give you back your experience/items.

Players who win Role Player of the Month get the opportunity to request one custom appearance for an item.

Are there any race restrictions on Sundren?
All ECL races, that is-- any race that have special traits that make them require more experience to level (IE Drow, Aasimar, Tieflings, Druegar etc.) are restricted by default.

Players who win Role Player of the Month get the opportunity to apply for a restricted race. They can use this form to submit an application on the help forum for approval.

The reason for this is to maintain a balance of respective races and to ensure that the benefits of more powerful races are given to players who will put forth the effort of role playing them.

Who is the Sundren Team?
See our staff page.

Is Sundren a localvault or a servervault server?
Sundren is a server vault server. This means that all characters are stored on the server, not on the clients machine.

What kind of server is Sundren?
Sundren is a role playing persistent world. Players are expected to be in character as often as possible. We strive above all else to offer fun, engaging gameplay in a rich interactive environment, where additional rulesets provide challenging and intriguing gameplay. Sundren is a low magic server with an emphasis on the community.

How do I connect to Sundren?
First of all, you will require Sundren's Client Updater in order to make sure you have all the required files to join the Sundren.org server.

Please download the updater.

After you install the updater it will automatically begin updating your system before it connects you to the Sundren server. In the future when you decide to connect to the Sundren.org server you need only launch the Sundren Client shortcut from your "Programs -> Sundren Client -> Launch Sundren Client" menu. *If you have not created a Neverwinter Nights 2 multiplayer account before, see below. First, you need to boot up NWN2. Click the shortcut that the installation created on your desktop. Proceed to click "Play". This will, after a lengthy introduction scene, bring you to the NWN2 main menu. Here, you need to click the "Multiplayer" button.

This brings us to the "Bioware Community Login". If you already have a login, you need to enter it here and press "Sign In." If this is not the case, I will walk you through the few easy steps for creating one.

First of all, you need to press "Create New Account" in the lower left corner of the screen. This will bring up a box for creating an account. In the first box, you enter your desired username. In the following two boxes, you enter your password, making sure it appears exactly the same in both boxes. Then, you need to input your email address, and once again make sure they match. You will not need to go to your email to play though. The email address is only used in case you forget your password. Now, click "Ok." This will cause the server to register and authorize for a bit. After checking your version and such, it will gate you on to the multiplayer interface.

To access Sundren from here, you need to click "Direct Connect" and enter the following: "nwn2.sundren.org" . It is very important that you type it all in correctly.

There, that is it! You're now set up and ready to access Sundren! You might want to proceed to create a character.

How can I contribute?
If you'd like to support Sundren, you can donate to help pay for server upkeep. If you're interested in volunteer opportunities, please see our jobs page. Regular users can help by reporting bugs they may find with Sundren.

Can you delete my character?
While we could delete the character, it is far easier for us to simply let you do so yourself. While in-game with the character you want to delete, use the delete option in the Sundren Menu.

What is Sundren's Magic Setting?
Sundren is a low-magic setting, meaning that the level of enchantments and abilities on items is greatly reduced from the maximum power that MoTB has made available. Generally speaking, a weapon or piece of armor with a bonus greater than +3 is profoundly rare, and perhaps even unique. It is equally rare to find items that provide permanent immunities to spell schools or effects, though they are in existance.

Does Sundren have custom content?
Yes. At this point, there are several new PRC's that are unique to Sundren, viewable in that section of the Wiki. Additionally, there are new spells and feats in plentiful amounts, many of which have been documented and are downloadable from here:

http://www.sundren.org/forum/showthread.php?t=6686

To what extent can players influence the world?
The impact that a player can make is almost limitless. From influencing factions, creating groups, swaying political and controvercial situations, acts of building and destruction alike, and much more, players are more than capable of provoking and preventing countless outcomes in countless situations.

*Snow Hawk is a very plain speaking, friendly, and influential young man. When his tribe came south following the elk herd, he was one of the scouts and gatherers sent out into the Sundren Vale. Though he's only 17 and has yet to pass his manhood test, he has proven himself to be a fierce warrior in battle and a diligent defender of the oaths he has sworn. He spends much of his time following Nes'Anah thru out the Viridale forest, often looking for ways to help her bring peace to the inhabitants, and protecting others against violence.
*Snow Hawk takes great pride in his God and likes to tell others that Tempus teaches not just glory in physical battle, but in all struggles, challenges, and spiritual battles that a person can find in life.
*Snow Hawk's rare blood type has been passed down man to son for many generations in the tribe. Due to the mingling of Orc, Human, and Outsider blood in the tribe, pure strains are exceptionally rare and his lineage is not considered abnormal by most.
*Snow Hawk has been individually blessed by all the aspects of the grove for his service, excpet for the aspect of Joy, who has withheld its blessing for unknown reasons.
*Although he is loyal to his tribe, family, and friends, and would never cause nor allow harm to befall them, this cannot be said of how he acts and treats outsiders. Quite often is is seen as rude, cold, and pregidous to strangers, mages, and those with black skin. He also cares little for the laws of the land, knowing the laws of the tribe come first in all things. This has lead to situation when he has broken the laws of the land, while following his tribes laws. The majority of Sundren's populace see him as CN in alignment, while to those closest to him see him as LG in alignment.
Tribe of the Remorahz

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Summary:

They are nomadic for all intensive purposes, but they stay within Icewind Dale and the surrounding lands. They usually follow the herds of elk/deer.
The tribe keeps a few permanent buildings in the Tundra, usually to shelter scouts and hunters on long travels. Woolen hides make up the exterior of their tents and structures. When a encampment is formed a few semi permanent buildings are usually created from the surrounding forests. (Food and wood storage primarily)
The children are raised by their fathers to hunt for food. The men do most of the hunting and gathering in the society. The children are trained from a young age with a barbarian-type weapon of the father's choosing (warhammer, warmace, battle ax, great ax, great sword... - Most of the weapons tend to be larger and two-handed.)
All but the rare members have black hair, blunt stubborn jaws, and short unimpressive noses. Brown eyes are the most common.
The tribes is primarily human though there is some intermingling of orc and (secretly) celestial in it as well. If a mixed blood is born into the tribe and their non human traits take dominance on their form, they are typiclly left to Tempus's mercy in the wilds of the tundra.
The tribe will work with any faction so long as it is to the benefit of the tribe and doesn't have any fundamentaly opposed issues (Undead, kin slaying, orc lovers, etc).
The tribe cling stubbornly to their traditions and lore. Often times this can cause undue racial tension, as black skin is treated as evil (even if its not a elf), and anyone showing magical talent is treated as if they were demon spawn.
Reading and writing skills is rare among the tribe, instead the most intelligent members of the tribe pass along their history and traditions orally.
Origin/History:

The typical diety that is worshipped by this tribe is Tempus Foehammer.
Drow are refered to as Demon elves or the Enslaver's Of Man.
Elves are seen as magical but untrustworthy creatures on the whole.
Dwarves are trustworthy and honorable, and mighty warriors.
Hin and gnomes are fantasy stories and often believed to be only legends, commonly described as being flighty, reckless, and foolish.
Half planar humans (tieflings, genasai, etc) are Called "Dark Ones or less commonly the Eaters of Souls"
Visitors of all races are typiclly treated with a distant caution, for the tribe knows that it cannot burn bridges needlesly and still stay strong when the time comes when it needs allies.
The Tribe of the Remorahz has always named its greatest foes to be Frost Giants who for many years have raided and slaved upon the tribes of Ice Wind dale. In so much, any giant seen by the tribe will immediately provoke a hostile response of some kind.
Base(s) of Operations:

The tribe of the Rhemoraz (Polar Worm) resides in Icewind Dale.
Leadership/People of Note:

The leader of the tribe is a male in the books, but the females hold a measure of power as well. Both genders treat each other with respect and poligamy is frowned upon. They are closely knit too survive in the cold winters of Icewind Dale (or Northern Sundren).
Tribal Elder is advised by the legend tellers (cleric types).
Tribal Elder delegates his wishes to the pathfinders who lead the tribe for him (druid types/ranger types)
Only the elder is allowed to make agreements for the tribe as a whole.
Objectives

Tribal Purity: Arcane Magic is called "The Corrupter" and is taught from child birth to be the brother of greed as such that they both will divide and destroy the tribe should they ever find a foot hold among the people.
The tribe is currently in its gathering and storage season in preperation for the coming winter, which the Shamans have foretold will be darker and colder then can be remembered.
Tribal Strength: The tribe eschews contact with civilized cities as much as is humanly possible. Children are indoctrinated early on to the idea that life in the citys makes a warrior lazy of thought and feet, and will lead to their doom. If travel to a city is necessary, a single tribesman is sent, after a night of spiritual preparation with a shaman to ward their soul from the lush intoxications of the easy life.
Ranks Initiation Process:
In the tribe of the Rhemoraz a teenager/early twenties male must defeat a polar worm with his bare hands and alone. The worm either eats him or he defeats it using his wits and the surrounding terrain. The worm is usually beaten by using its heat-source (a red glowing epidermis along its back) to the warrior's advantage. Once beaten, the new warrior is tattooed with a polar worm on their forehead in an ice-blue hue to show they are adults.
The only way an outsider may join the tribe is to marry into it, which typiclly only happens when a warrior chooses a bride from outside the tribe. These newcomers are welcomed with full priveledge as if they had been born into the tribe.
Rituals/Ceremonies of Note:
The rhemoraz is particularly revered as it the kill needed to obtain adult hood. Other animals are respected for power and strength, along with speed. The barbarians typically do not waste a kill and use all parts of the body for some purpose. The furs of the animal are typically used to keep warm or cover up metal armor that would normally freeze in the harsh winter winds.
Only men that have passed the trial of the worm, may take a woman for a wife, which tends to encourage the warriors to attempt their trials during their later adolesence and weeds out the weak , slow, and stupid at early ages.
Death rituals are handled one of two ways. Should it be an honorable death in battle, the fallen are celebrated by feasting and drinking in their honor. Should a tribesman die in another way, there is mourning and fasting for a day, to apease Tempus for one of his warriors not dying a "honorable" death.
Timeline/Historical Events of Note:
They are from Icewind Dale and could have migrated south (slightly) to the Cold Climb region of Sundren. They are innately distrustful of wizards, sorcerers and bardic magic. They are sometimes suspicious of clerics, but the tribe has it's own shamanistic/clerical backgrounds.
The Keeper of the grove has allowed fishing and hunting in his woods as long as the animals are respected and taken for food not for sport and not over hunted.
The tribe of the Remorahz is one of the smallest tribes of the dales, though its members are considered to be among the strongest, should you ask any other tribe of them.
Recently a giant avalanche in the cold climb obliterated the tribe and ended there long and glorious history in the forgotten realms.
Snow Hawk is a very plain speaking, friendly, and influential young man.
Snow Hawk takes great pride in his God and likes to tell others that Tempus teaches not just glory in physical battle, but in all struggles, challenges, and spiritual battles that a person can find in life.
Snow Hawk's rare blood type has been passed down man to son for many generations in the tribe. Due to the mingling of Orc, Human, and Aasimar blood in the tribe, pure strains are exceptionally rare and his lineage is not considered abnormal by most.
Although he is loyal to his tribe, family, and friends, and would never cause nor allow harm to befall them, this cannot be said of how he acts and treats outsiders.

The typical diety that is worshipped by this tripe is Tempus Foehammer.

They do not interfere with Lord Colibrus' manse and are usually selective about who they welcome into their town.
Death
Death is taken very serious in Sundren.
Should you pass away at level 11 or below, you are given 4 options to return to your mortal frame.
1. Someone can cast Raise Dead or Ressurection on your body. A small percentage of your total XP will be deducted this way, but you cannot lose a level.
2. Someone can pay a priest to raise you in a temple. A small percentage of your total XP will be deducted this way, but you cannot lose a level.
3. You may choose to speak to the Essence of the Night. It will reform your body and shuffle your soul back to it. You will lose a small percentage of your total XP and gold. Also you can lose random items from you inventory, having been stolen from your corpse while you are deceased.
Once you've passed beyond level 11, your options become more dramatic.
1. Someone can cast Raise Dead or Ressurection on your body. A small percentage of your total XP will be deducted this way, you can lose a level.
Regardless of all this, if you possess a Signus, this is a one time "get out of jail free card" to be used to return to life.
