	Orias was born to Kotho and Dola Brisby in one of the less prosperous zones of Athkatla, Amn's capital city. An adventurer by nature, Kotho was asked to settle down in the city by his wife, Dola, but eventually endeavored to provide for his family by acquiring fame and fortune through exploration. He left on another trek for renown shortly after his son's birth.		Orias was born to Kotho and Dola Brisby in one of the less prosperous zones of Athkatla, Amn's capital city. Left to work for her son alone, the embittered Dola had little attention for Orias, leaving him to grow in the streets. Eventually, six years after Orias's birth, Kotho visited his family one more time and left for an adventure from which he did not return.		However, though Kotho returned a few months later, he had nothing of particular value. He promised his family great riches and continued to come and go, his visits fewer and further between. Left to work for her son alone, the embittered Dola had little attention for Orias, leaving him to grow in the streets. Eventually, six years after Orias's birth, Kotho visited his family one more time and left for an adventure from which he did not return.

	Orias became something of a troublemaker, inheriting his father's desire for exploration and becoming something of a nuisance to his neighbors. As he grew, he discovered he had also inherited Kotho's innate magical talent. Dola, angry at her son's similarity to his father, refused to acknowledge his abilities and insisted that he had no prospects. As a result, Orias had little ambition, leaving his magic undeveloped until well into his 15th year.		Orias became something of a troublemaker, inheriting his father's desire for exploration and becoming something of a nuisance to his neighbors. The wizard, introducing himself as Korin Ramsey, visited Dola and offered to teach Orias; Dola responded that he may as well take Orias off her hands.
