For many adventurers in Sundren, James would certainly be an enigma. He is very much a loner. This a product of his upbringing as a Warden protecting the lands of the lord, in whose fief he was born, from goblins, firbolgs (Moonshaevian giants) and occaisional bandits. Yet once one gets past his standoffish and sarcastic nature, he can be quite friendly and charming.

Unlike many adventurers, James has no great driving purpose or goals in life. It could be said that James is simply an explorer of sorts out to see something new. This is how he ended up in Sundren. Given the chance to go abroad, he took passage on a ship from Caer Corwell to Baldur's Gate and eventually made his way to Sundren.

It would appear to many that James in uninterested, perhaps even a callous disregard, for the rise of some of the evils recently in Sundren. In truth James has adopted a watch and wait attitude. "There are many dark places in the world...some of them are best left be" is a good description of his attitude. Make no mistake about it, if James is forced to act he would do so without mercy for evil.
