Background:
An immigrant to Sundren, Alyrian fled to the valley to escape the persecution he felt in his homeland. His eldritch power has earned him an infamous reputation, and his actions have made him a wanted man by various factions within the valley. Nevertheless, Alyrian continues to call it his home.

Recent History:
Forced into exile, Alyrian fled to the northern reaches of the Spine of the World, in hopes of finding a safe haven within the frozen labyrinth. Even there, however, he watches his back closely, wary of any from his past that would seek to disturb his respite.

Powers and Abilities:
Alyrian has displayed, at one time or another, the following abilities and supernatural powers:

• * The ability to recover from deadly injuries - he once severed his own arm in an attempt to hold back the magicks, only to have it regenerate against his will.
• * Energy manipulation - Alyrian is capable of manipulating and directing intense blasts of eldritch energy, imbued with further magical properties.
• * The ability to walk unseen, even amongst the sharpest of normal vision.
• * Bursts of supernatural speed, capable of outdistancing most foes.
• * Short-range teleportation.
• * Conjuring Chilling Tentacles to strangle and beat his victims.
• * Consuming spells and magic to empower his own health.
• * Enshrouding large areas with a near-impenetrable darkness.
• * Assuming the hellish form of a cormugon, a dark invocation he learned from his mother, and one of his last few remaining ties to her.
• * A mastery of hellfire, a deadly weapon that weakens its wielder even as it destroys his enemies.
• * A supernatural resistance to certain elements, particularly fire.

Significant Relationships:

• * Richard Darkholme - As Alyrian's first true friend among Sundren, Richard has provided invaluable insight and advice to him many times. It was because of this, that he felt particularly betrayed to hear Richard pledge his support to his mother, Phaedriel. Irrationally enraged at his mother, he has shifted blame onto Richard as well - their friendship has chilled.
• * Tamryn Jorandur - Though she has been long-past, the aching memory of the love he once shared with Tamara Roth still hangs over Alyrian. It was in her memory that he vowed to protect Sundren from those who would do it harm. Because of this, he shares a rather complicated relationship with the Lady Tamryn Jorandur of Torm. His impulsive decision to attempt to seize her for his own ended in tragedy - their relationship now is strained at best. Alyrian is unaware of the atrocity committed by Mestra - or perhaps he simply does not want to know.
• * Phaedriel - Alyrian's mother, who first made the dark pact that empowered them both with eldritch magic. Her soul dominated Alyrian's personality, driving him into the recesses of his own mind as she assumed his identity. Only with the aid of Hano Fetten, Tamryn, Sehron Dy'ner and Tifton was Phaedriel finally banished and destroyed.
• * Tifton - In Alyrian's eyes, Tifton is the one who liberated him from Phaedriel's fiendish control. It was his efforts, unprovoked, unrequested, but given freely and willingly, that finally spared Alyrian of his mother's terrible domination. In order to repay this act of kindness, he pledged his service to Tifton and the Black Hand; he actively sought a way to restore some measure of happiness to Tifton's tortured existence. When it became clear that Tifton had vanished for good, Alyrian promptly abandoned the Banites.
• * Vazbanicus - Little is known about this mysterious entity, but where his name is mentioned, Alyrian's is not far behind.

Factions:

• * The Black Hand of Bane - Alyrian joined the Black Hand as a token of his gratitude to Tifton, despite his hatred for them and all they stood for. However, upon being welcomed into their brotherhood, he found himself undeniably tempted by the awesome power they were able to offer. Alyrian made a terrible enemy when he left the ranks of the Black Hand; he does not look forward to meeting his former masters.
• * The Red Wizards of Thay - Though his dealings with the Red-robed wizards had once been mutually beneficial, Alyrian - in a deluded state of magic addiction - irrevocably destroyed their working relationship when he lashed out with his eldritch magic on the enclave premises. He was subdued and imprisoned by the Thayan masters soon after; how he escaped is yet a mystery.
• * The Druid Glade - Alyrian has ever been a friend to the forest guardians, assisting the Keeper with various tasks as needed. Upon his exile, as to not draw unwanted attention to the druids, he chose to flee to the north, rather than to the glade's protection.
• * The Sundarian Legion - A bounty has been placed on Alyrian's head by the State. He is wanted alive for various crimes.
