Alyrian's past is shrouded in mystery to all but the closest of friends. To others, he has revealed only that he was not born of Sundren, though he now declares it his home. He made a solemn promise to someone he cared deeply for, that he would protect this land against all who threaten it. To that end, he has used his warlock powers to aid Sundren against many calamities.
Recent History:
Alyrian arrived in Sundren tattered and bruised, a stowaway on a ship that landed in Avanthyr. Were it not for the aid of several kind strangers - Richard Darkholme, Valen Ember, and Tamara Roth - his initial experience in Sundren would have been much worse. Richard and Valen became fast friends ... and Tamara and Alyrian soon grew to become something more. Unfortunately, as his powers expanded beyond his ability to control them, Alyrian became increasingly withdrawn from his friends, and cut off his relationship with Tamara. He even went so far as to sever an arm from his body, but to no effect.
Though he understood his power was cursed, Alyrian completely rejected the idea of cleansing himself of the eldritch magic, believing that without the power, he would be reduced to nothing. This could be no more clearly evidenced than during the "Inquisition" - when the Temple of Helm began to seek out and capture warlocks in order to purge them of their dark power one by one. Though Alyrian managed to elude his Helmite captors for some time, he eventually was found and caught. Surprisingly, the Abbot Orlan Proskus showed the young elf mercy when others demanded that the power be stripped away - Tamara among them. His magicks were spared, though to this day, even Alyrian is not sure how they survived the encounter intact.
Alyrian did not escape the Inquisition unscathed, however. The increasing feeling of animosity and general air of suspicion that seemed to loom about him wherever he went caused him to sink into depression, and then resentment. He had abandoned his friends and Tamara had moved on. As his powers grew, so did his anger.
