Background:
Alyrian's past is shrouded in mystery to all but the closest of friends. He was not born in Sundren, but now calls it home. Once an innocent young elf, unaware of the true nature of his power, he has since taken a much more cynical view on life. Still, idealism and naive dreams still linger with him, despite all that has happened.

Recent History:
Having his mind and personality suppressed by Phaedriel's spirit for months, Alyrian is weary, exhausted from mental battle, and undeniably angry at such a betrayal from his own mother. The inaction of his companions in freeing him from his mother's control left Alyrian jaded and deeply saddened; he has since turned to his only remaining friend - the only person who had the power and cared enough to remove Phaedriel's dominating presence - Tifton.

In debt to Tifton for having saved him from his mother's tyranny, Alyrian has been on a search to find a way to restore some part of Tifton's capability to experience happiness. The effort has not been easy, and he is not entirely sure of how to even begin searching for a solution. He has resolved, for the time-being, to earn the trust of Tifton's "Mother" and "Father," Mestra and Ditus Ill'Koresh, in an effort to get closer to the source and potential cure for Tifton's condition.

Having joined the Black Hand, and being accepted as a new member of Bane's flock, Alyrian now enjoys a status and role of leadership that he has never before experienced. He was appointed Tifton's personal envoy, and Trusted Servant of Bane. Under Mestra's whispered urging, he decided to take Tamryn for himself. The attempt ultimately ended in a catastrophe, a massacre and a severing of ties with his once-lover's reincarnation - Alyrian knows he has crossed a line that can not be redrawn. Much to his surprise, Mestra rewarded his failure with secrets of new power, power that he finds almost ... irresistibly tempting.

Powers and Abilities:
Alyrian has displayed, at one time or another, the following abilities and supernatural powers:

• * The ability to recover from deadly injuries - he once severed his own arm in an attempt to hold back the magicks, only to have it regenerate against his will.
• * Energy manipulation - Alyrian is capable of manipulating and directing intense blasts of eldritch energy, imbued with further magical properties.
• * The ability to walk unseen, even amongst the sharpest of normal vision.
• * Bursts of supernatural speed, capable of outdistancing most foes.
• * Short-range teleportation.
• * Conjuring Chilling Tentacles to strangle and beat his victims.
• * Consuming spells and magic to empower his own health.
• * Enshrouding large areas with a near-impenetrable darkness.

Significant Relationships:

• * Richard Darkholme - As Alyrian's first true friend among Sundren, Richard has provided invaluable insight and advice to him many times. It was because of this, that he felt particularly betrayed to hear Richard pledge his support to his mother, Phaedriel. Irrationally enraged at his mother, he has shifted blame onto Richard as well - their friendship has chilled.
• * Tamryn Jorandur - Though she has been long-past, the aching memory of the love he once shared with Tamara Roth still hangs over Alyrian. It was in her memory that he vowed to protect Sundren from those who would do it harm. Because of this, he shares a rather complicated relationship with the Lady Tamryn Jorandur of Torm. His impulsive decision to attempt to seize her for his own ended in tragedy - their relationship now is strained at best. Alyrian is unaware of the atrocity committed by Mestra - or perhaps he simply does not want to know.
• * Phaedriel - Alyrian's mother, who first made the dark pact that empowered them both with eldritch magic. Her soul dominated Alyrian's personality, driving him into the recesses of his own mind as she assumed his identity. Only with the aid of Hano Fetten, Tamryn, Sehron Dy'ner and Tifton was Phaedriel finally banished and destroyed.
• * Tifton - In Alyrian's eyes, Tifton is the one who liberated him from Phaedriel's fiendish control. It was his efforts, unprovoked, unrequested, but given freely and willingly, that finally spared Alyrian of his mother's terrible domination. In order to repay this act of kindness, he pledged his service to Tifton and the Black Hand; he is now actively seeking a way to restore some measure of happiness to Tifton's tortured existence. Alyrian has since been appointed Tifton's personal envoy.
• * Omnigalas Singul - A Watchful Brother of the Black Hand, Alyrian often makes use of his capable service. The fact that Phaedriel seemed to favor this champion of Bane makes their relationship a professional one, at best.
• * Mestra Ill'Koresh - Mestra seems to have taken an interest in Alyrian, offering him training and guidance in the dark power.

Factions:

• * The Black Hand of Bane - Out of gratitude to Tifton, Alyrian pledged his faith and allegiance to Bane and joined the ranks of the Black Hand. Whether or not he truly understands the consequences of such an act, is hard to say.
