History:

Ryouichi was born, the only child, to a wealthy merchant family, hailing from a port city of Shinkoku. Though great was their wealth and the power they wielded, at heart his parents valued knowledge, justice and kindness above everything else and in the spirit of those values their son was raised.

In his early years, Ryouichi was always fascinated by the Samurai. For to him, they were the embodiment of justice and honor. He urged his parents to allow him to follow the path of the Samurai and after days of discussions and reconsideration they finally granted him that wish. Years passed and the son of merchants had become a Samurai, fighting against bandits, criminals and enemies of Kozakura in the name of the Shogun. He always thought the shogun to be an honorable and just man, but that would change very soon.

In the wake of the Wa invasion, he and his unit were ordered directly by the Shogun to eradicate the people of the regions previously occupied by the Waan forces, for they wanted to remain independent. Torn between his oath to obey the shogun and his oath to protect the innocent, he sided with the innocent and so he fought against his former comrades, but never striking to kill. Heavily wounded, he was brought back to the city of birth for trial. But the news of what had transpired in that battle reached his parents and they used all their power and wealth to save the life of their only child.

The shogun gave him the choice: To leave Kozakura forever and exempting his family of any defilement or to face trial. And so he choose exile and left with the next ship. With his faith and resolve shattered he drifted across the lands as a sword for hire, more often drunken then hired. Were it not for the intervention of clerics of Tyr this would have been his end, for after a fight with local bandits near the city Neverwinter he was brought to the temple of Tyr, seriously wounded.

It took a long time for Ryouichi to recover, but with the clerics of Tyr he was finally able to find a new lease on life. And with this new found resolve and guided by the faith in Tyr, Ryouichi set out to a region called Sundren, looking for a new master to serve under, one that is just and honorable.
