When misfortune struck outlying hamlets in way of disease surrounding his first temple, Mathell watched in morbid appreciation as his mentor and fellow acolytes saw to playing both sides of the spectrum. To soothe the pains of one marked as a survivor, and skilfully end the existence of another considered to be a lost cause.
A subject of many of the inherent foes and dangers that may find a Kelemvorite, Mathell early on weathered a vast majority of what his life would later shape out to battle. Originally trained as a country cleric to a smaller temple in the outskirts of Neverwinter, Mathell remembers with a vague muse the ideal of such simple times. His first temple overrun by the indignant dangers that possess the territories outside the city of Skilled Hands, alongside a few more in addition, the now-titled Doomguide has few remarks to give beyond his melancholic remembrance to the bitter abandoning of his early school and home to the wilds. Tasked at the age of fourteen as a messenger between outlying temples following the harsh abandonment of his home, Mathell did not hesitate to upgrade his task to following members of the Eternal Order that he came across between missions. Though his break from the simple life of study and more quiet-paced duty had never been intended to remain permanent, he not so subtly made the choice for himself when he begged entry into the Order after witnessing a ferocious battle from afar with a series of necromancers.
A marring, learning experience for the acolyte.
Nearing twenty four now, he has stood time and time again as a valiant and capable member of both the priestly teachings bestowed upon him, as well as the more militaristic order he opted for in teenage years.
As sickness was slowly culled, a considerable threat was made in it's place.
Kelemvor's faithful, slowed by their lack of numbers and caught outside of news' ways for too long, left the over viewing of neighboring graveyards to less respectful hands. Incompetent or uncaring keepers saw a terrible turn as worries of illness had begun to die in their homes. Undead, mortified and angered by improper burial and neglecting services, rose to haunt their resting places.

When news reached the small, out manned temple, the tale of said undead had far escalated past it's true turn. Much in need of a messenger to request the services of another temple, potentially a stationary Doomguide someways out, Mathell quickly volunteered for the task.
Fourteen at the time accompanied by a fellow trainee, he left his temple's somber halls with dreams of greater escapades filling his mind.
They have not left to date.

From his first time as a messenger, Mathell quickly found the road suited his tastes better than the simple everyday lifestyle of a priest.
When the chance later arose after his return, for him to accompany a wandering cleric of the temple he had previously requested aid from, he leaped at the offer.
Nearing twenty four now, he has continued the lifestyle of a roadside wanderer and devout of Kelemvor in that way. From a messenger to Undead Hunter, he until very recently shunned the common day tasks of his faith for more interesting pursuits. Many wonder when reality will catch up with the young man's dreams of glory and conquest, as he shows few signs of catching up with it.

His zealous spirit and sword-arm did not go unnoticed by his church as such, a decidedly young example now of one carrying the banner of both a Paladin of the Eternal Order and the well-respected station of a Doomguide beside it.
His place in Sundren is best known by the brutal daily assaults on all cases of undeath that plague the region, as well as the overseeing of many passing soldiers and field-members of his neighboring churches.

Religion speaks for the entirety of Mathell's being.
Faith in his god, Kelemvor, faith in His judgment and the uttermost faith in his own ability to dispense it.
Startling faith in his god, Kelemvor, faith in His judgment and the uttermost faith in his own ability to dispense it.
Striking many as a reserved, uninterested character, such is surprisingly not true. Though often taciturn in his dealings with others, Mathell holds an overwhelming desire to prove himself and increase his own realm of influence.
A dry, uncomplimentary arrogance adorns the heart of Mathell's faith, offering it to any more perceptive as an inherently selfish thing.
He does not hesitate to speak out, and passionately so, should it offer some gain to himself. A gain he fully considers as being one to his church in whole.
Given numerous successful campaigns beside Kelemvor's Eternal Order, as well as his own private battles against a number of his god's foes, an unfolded sense of perfection often adorns his frame when questioned as to his skill in warfare.
A selfish often vain outlook on the world as considered by others, Mathell prides himself however on his selfless character and stalwart actions against those who oppose his faith. A sign of immaturity at it's best, there exists however some truth still in his own beliefs towards himself.
While he has not been without failure in duty, certainly more so in recent times, his still young mind instinctively lingers upon the fonder examples of his career. He takes to the subject of undead with alarmingly little bitterness and outward show of hate, a thing one could commonly describe from a man in his position. He opts for a more distant, imposing sort of indifference to any emotion besides that of the raw efficient drive that calls him to obliterate all such cases.
He would, for instance, gladly sacrifice himself for the betterment of his own temple.. But then he would all the more so gladly sacrifice a dozen others for the same.

Mathell's largest drawback is undoubtedly that he is, quite simply, often not intelligent enough to keep pace with the goings-on around him.
It is not uncommonly noted that his only compassionate side is shown when seeing to the more daily tasks of his clergy; the seeing to the peaceful transition of those who have met the end of their time.
While it would be unfair to claim that he is unintelligent, it is undeniably a fact of his station that he is commonly surrounded in Sundren by those either more sly, cunning or well educated than he.
He makes good on his given title as a specialty priest within his faith, soothing words and calming hands offering pleasant respite and a quiet farewell.
His forth-right ambitious nature often stands out as such, placing him in delicate and more ridiculed situations as time goes by.
Perhaps due to being unable to balance the scales in that subject, he more often than not prefers to stick to a brash, to-the-point solution to most problems. His sword-arm regularly has the first say to any troublesome scenario.

Character Personality:

Religion speaks for the entirety of Mathell's being. Startling faith in his god, Kelemvor, faith in His judgment and the uttermost faith in his own ability to dispense it. Significant Relationships:

Drew Fairweather - A brother-in-arms and Favored of Kelemvor, the two make for curious comrades. Though conflict and debate often arise in subject between them regarding the church's priorities in Sundren, as well as along with such where best to relay her resources, they work surprisingly well side-by-side on the field.

Pyras Demathos - One of Mathell's earliest connections to the Sundren region, he holds an admirable respect and distantly-placed regard for the Red Wizard. A respect, Mathell admits when asked, is unlikely to ever be returned in same.

Lauan Tissle - An awkward, but growing friendship exists between the somber cleric and Thayan Knight. Though their bond of trust is delicate and fragile still, Mathell counts Lauan among the few noteworthy individuals of Sundren worth remembering.

Jessica C. Alexander - A slippery, whimsical person, Jessica embodies the literal polar-opposite of Mathell's character. Where he is stubborn and narrow-minded, she holds to being flippant and well-rounded. The same is true in reverse. A bristling relationship with as many ups as downs, their duo is a rare and often humorous one.
