Using Craft: Tailoring typically requires the crafter to be near a tailoring and leatherworking Workbench, and to have a sewing kit in his possession. The plans for each specific armor or clothing item lists which materials that item requires. The skill requirement for crafting the item depends on the difficulty to produce the item in question.
Once all requirements for crafting the item are met, the character must be within a designated crafting station in close proximity to the mentioned work stations and activate the plans to open up the crafting screen for initiating the process. If all the ingredients are present, the minimum skill ranks are met, all crafting characters are present with an acceptable fatigue level, and the crafting character is within 10 meters and line of sight of the needed work stations, the armour or clothing will be crafted.
Rare resources (such thistledown, shadowsilk and rare hides) are typical ingredient types for more valuable creations, and can be player made or taken from various creatures.
Hides can be tured into useful leather material by activating the item on a leatherworking station and having a skinning knife in your possession. The quality of the leather depends on the type of hide being skinned.
Some articles of clothing and armour can have their look customized, but a wooden dressing dummy will be required in the shape of the race your are making the item for. Dressing dummies can be made by wood workers. In addition, dyes made by alchemists can alter the colours of the clothing or armour. All these customizations need to be done when the item is created as it cannot be altered after.
