Background: Kendra and Jack left the Daleland's and traveled. They saw Cormyr, the Great Rift and ended up in Halruaa. Kendra conceived and soon gave birth to Spardo. They decided to stay a spell. A few years passed and Jack was approached by a Wizard named Jarlo. Jarlo asked for Spardo to become his apprentice. He offered to pay for all expenses and give him an education. They agreed to let things develop for a few seasons.

Spardo was tested and proved to have the mind for magic. This was no surprise to Jarlo, he must have read the stars or some such. Training went well, dispite Spardo's natural tendencies to sneak about and get into everything. Fortunately Jarlo was patient. When Spardo was ten, his parents decided to move. Jarlo convinced them to let Spardo continue studying. They ended up settling near Baulder's Gate. Soon after, Kendra had a daughter, whom they named Darla. Spardo visited often and grew to love his sister deeply. After a few years, he would take her out sneaking and gave her his favorite dagger.

Spardo spent the last years of his apprenticeship more tinkering than studying. Jarlo gave his final tests and Spardo passed with high marks. Spardo's life then changed drastically. Darla would always go out wondering as Spardo taught her. One day she came upon something evil that spotted her. Her parents found her remains and were devastated. Spardo took it worst of all. He rushed home and went to the site were she was killed. He found her dagger and blamed himself for what happened.

Spardo spend the next year wallowing in depression. He developed a deep connection to Darla's dagger and often spoke to it. He annoused one day to find a way to magically bind Darla into the dagger itself. Spardo's parents worried and called upon Jarlo. Jarlo came and visited. They decided it be best to get Spardo out and doing something. Jarlo had heard of what was happened in Sundren and decided to send him north to collect information. Arrangements were made and Spardo was sent North.
