Name: Filbert Malen'avir

Deity: Oghma

Filbert was born in the small hamlet of Maldra's Glen and spent his childhood years assisting his family. To his parents' surprise he seemed to be devoid of color from birth and the only glint of color were in his pale blue eyes. His father was not happy with the frame of his new son. It was small and sickly not the hale stock of the Malen'avir family. Filbert seem more akin to an elven child which caused his father to place much scorn on his growing son. It was never his two sisters fault if something went array no matter what occurred. A bow not crafted correctly or if a batch of animal hides did not tan enough for his fancy. During his younger years, Filbert made sure to know the rules and tread lightly when dealing with any member of his family.

His ninth birthday was the deciding point for his father and he knew that his son would not grow out of his scrawny body or have the stamina to successfully hunt on his own. So, he was given to the Priests of Oghma so he would no longer burden his family. Within the temple, Filbert felt welcome and they taught him the rigors of education. He was given apprenticeship to the one mystic in the village since the priest felt he had a calling towards the arcane. He was taught to ignore the physical and focus on the 'glue of creation'. When he was not learning from his master, Filbert engorged himself on the tomes within the temple learning of the deities and cultures of the world around him. He would steal away from time to time to catch a performance of the traveling minstrels and bards.

Shortly after being granted journeyman status, Filbert yearned to travel and expand his knowledge of the world. The hamlet was too small for him. He booked passage with a local merchant to Amphail then on to Waterdeep. The city of Splendors was far too large and unruly for his tastes. Here he found a place more attune to his hope, a city with potential and a firm church base, Sundren. Shortly after this discovery, he booked passage to Port Avanthyr. So far he has enjoyed his decision.
