I’d like to suggest, if possible, changing how “gold” works. Not in the sense of amount that players receive or what they can afford, but a thematic change. It always weirds me out in servers when people start trading in hundreds of thousands of gold like it’s nothing.
My suggestion would be change our current 1 gold to equal 1 copper, then work up from there.
Copper Piece (CP) – 1CP – 1/10SP – 1/100GP – 1/1000PP
Silver Piece (SP) – 10CP – 1SP – 1/20GP – 1/100PP
Gold Piece (GP) – 100CP – 10SP – 1GP – 1/10PP
Platinum Piece (PP) – 1000CP – 100SP – 10GP – 1PP
This would make going from trading something worth currently 10,000 gold (a crazy number already and it’s not that high) to 10 Platinum which both sounds far less crazy but also a reasonable amount of coins that someone could carry on their person.

Thank you for your suggestion. As you point out, the display is entirely a cosmetic and narrative change, so is unlikely to get any direct resolution while we deal with higher priority concerns. However, I have made a note within the development queue and will investigate the possibility. I will caution that simply having the ability to change the value does not mean the change will occur, as that will be decided in an internal discussion.
